The Charge to the Task Force
The Quality Enhancement Plan Task Force is charged to develop a five-year plan (2024-2029) that will provide all students at the University of Florida the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills, and applications in artificial intelligence.
The QEP Task Force is composed of faculty, staff, students, and administrators, and led by Task Force Chairs Dr. Katie Migliaccio and Dr. Jane Southworth.
Conceptualizing AI Literacy
To focus the plan on student learning and the conditions that enhance student learning, the Task Force selected four AI competencies to develop and measure in UF student curriculum:
- Know & Understand AI
- Know the basic functions of AI and to use AI applications
- Use & Apply AI
- Applying AI knowledge, concepts and applications in different scenarios
- Evaluate and Create AI
- Higher-order thinking skills (e.g., evaluate, appraise, predict, design) with AI applications
- Human-centered considerations (e.g., fairness, accountability, transparency, ethics, safety)
- AI Ethics
